New Apple Music DJ Integration Lets Users Mix Their Own Tracks

Apple Music has introduced DJ integration, allowing users to create their DJ mixes directly on the platform.

Apple Music has launched a new feature, DJ with Apple Music, allowing subscribers to create DJ sets from over 100 million songs. Now, this feature is integrated with various software, including Algoriddim’s Djay Pro, AlphaTheta, Serato, InMusic’s Engine DJ, Denon DJ, Numark, and Rane DJ.

How does it work?

Apple Music’s catalog is seamlessly integrated into supported software and hardware platforms. Subscribers to Apple Music can easily access and mix tracks within their DJing apps, making it simpler to tap into a vast music collection. For example, users of Rekordbox can now mix tracks directly from Apple Music’s catalog while utilizing the app’s professional tools. Previously, this feature was available for platforms like Tidal, but the integration with Apple Music provides an added level of convenience for its users. In contrast, Spotify discontinued integration with third-party DJ apps in 2020. By introducing this feature, Apple Music not only enhances the experience for existing Apple users but also aims to attract more DJs to its platform.

To start mixing, users simply need to:

  1. Ensure they have an active Apple Music subscription.
  2. Update their app to the latest version.
  3. Connect Apple Music to a compatible DJ software.
  4. Start creating and customizing the mixes.

The feature is now available, enabling users to integrate their software and hardware with Apple Music via the latest update. Rekordbox version 7 offers enhanced browsing features for streaming services, allowing users to easily find tracks in Apple Music’s vast library using artist images and album artwork.

“Apple Music is committed to supporting DJs. With this latest integration, we’re taking that commitment even further – seamlessly connecting with Apple Music with the industry’s leading DJ software and hardware. This innovation brings the full power of Apple Music into the creative workflow, making it easier than ever for DJs to access, play, and discover music in real time.” – Stephen Campbell, Global Head of Dance, Electronic & DJ Mixes at Apple Music

What This Means for the Future of Apple Music:

Apple Music has established itself as a leader in the streaming industry, and the recent introduction of DJ integration reinforces its position in music technology. With increasing competition from services like Spotify and TIDAL, Apple’s focus on interactive and creator-friendly features helps it stay ahead of the competition.

The launch of DJ integration is part of a broader trend towards user-generated content and personalized music experiences. As more users seek ways to engage with music beyond just passive listening, Apple Music’s new feature provides fresh opportunities for creativity and self-expression.

“We are excited to see established and new DJs alike combine their passion and creativity with access to one of the largest streaming catalogues in the world.” – Young Ly, CEO at Serato
