Learn how to enter the Native Instruments Scoring Challenge, including the deadline, submission guidelines and the chance to win the latest semi-modular synthesizer Absynth 6
Native Instruments has come up with another amazing challenge, but this time it’s a bit different. In this challenge, producers and composers are invited to create an original soundtrack for the official promo video of NI’s latest launch, “Absynth 6“. The challenge focuses on experimental scoring and sound design, and producers are free to submit any genre that defines the identity of the synthesizer.
As a part of the competition, participants are asked to create a 1:20-minute promotional video, using Native Instruments plugins, with the winner receiving a full license of Absynth 6, worth $199.
What the Challenge is About:
The scoring challenge revolves around reimaging the Absynth 6 promo video through an experimental soundscape. Absynth 6 is a semi-modular synthesizer features subtractive, FM, wavetable and granular synthesis, and has long been known for its cinematic and experimental capabilities. So, Native Instruments is looking for music that reflects the synth’s identity.
This Scoring Challenge will be judged by Jeremy, a former minimal techno producer currently serving as community manager at Native Instruments. They also mentioned: “He enjoys all forms of experimental music, but not only”. This means participants can be creative and show their talent with full freedom.

How to Enter:
According to Native Instruments, participants can choose between two versions of the official promo video (horizontal or vertical) that can be downloaded from their Discord server. Follow these steps to enter the scoring challenge:
- Download the official promo video from their Discord channel.
- Create an original score using at least one native instruments product.
- You can submit your entry by using any of these options below:
- Post the video on social media and use the hashtag #weirdbydesign, then share the link in their official Discord channel.
- ‘Second, Participants can upload the scored video to a file-sharing platform and submit the link in the same Discord channel.
Rules and Requirements:
- The score must use at least one Native Instruments product.
- The music must cover the entire 1:20 min duration of the promo video.
- You can use copyright-free loops and samples from other libraries.
- Participation is open to individuals 18 years of age or older
- One submission per participant.
Deadline and Winner Announcement:
The submission has already started from December 16, 2024 and will be accepted until January 5, 2026. Additionally, the winner will be announced on January 9, 2026.
